IRON MAIDEN will be performing two special benefit gigs at London's Brixton Academy on March 20 and March 21 in an attempt to raise funds to help former drummer Clive Burr who is suffering from multiple sclerosis.
Hammerheart Records signs Greece metal-legends SEPTIC FLESH! The band will enter the Swedish Fredman-studio in May to record their first album for the label. According to the band we can expect "a fine mix between the old stuff and modern Death Metal". "Melody meets brutality and ingenious songwriting", like we are used from them on their previous albums.
After 3 weeks of rehearsing Sinergy has decided to keep "session" drummer Janne Parviainen as a steady member of the band."He has shown tremendous dedication and is by far the best drummer we've ever played with", says the band.
Yngwie's Concerto Suite Live performance has now been released on CD, and DVD (since january the 17th). I guess he keeps on zooming on him with different camera views with that narcissic dvd item :D
Morten has resigned from Elusive in order to concentrate on his solo project Sirenia. His replacement in the goth rock band is Kristian Gundersen. This has to be taken as good news in my opinion, cause Elusive don't need Morten really cause they are playing goth rock and i guess any guitarist can play the guitar lines in this band. But, the good side of it is that we will have one more new excellent band!!! :)
Children of Bodom are rumoured discussing a new record deal. Until they achieve to find their next label, every plan for a future release has to be postponed.
Anathema will release its first ever single 'Pressure' on January 28 via Music For Nations. The single is taken from their latest album, 'A Fine Day To Exit' and contains the following tracks: 'Pressure' (edit) 'Underworld' (acoustic version) 'Pressure' (album version) Enhanced section: 'Pressure' video."

The band is currently composing and recording songs from the forthcoming new studio album. This one should come out in the stores in early september. The title and the style of the songs are still a mystery. Let's hope they'll go back to a more metal oriented way of composing songs.

I've just review the Al Di Meola 'anthology' compilation. If you have never heard Al Di Meola or if you're a jazz rock fusion movement neophyte, go there immediately and then, confront theory to practise by using penny radio. Al Di Meola : 'Anthology'
Finally. Check out the INTER-active-Views section. I'm sorry for the delay, hope you'll enjoy it anyway! Love ye all!
Shaman drummer Samu has been replaced by Nalle Österman (Gandalf).
From the official Mistfits homepage: It has always been the way of the Fits to take matters into their own hands and the time has finally come to launch Misfits Records! You heard it right fiends, the Misfits new record label will finally launch in 2002. We have lots of great stuff in the works and further details on this and more coming very soon. Until then, we can tell you that the new label will debut with a special split single in conjunction with Disk Union, between the Misfits and Japan's new premiere horror punk band Balzac. Follow this link to read more.
The following message has been just published on the official website of our friends Finntroll: Due to a tumor in my vocal cords I was not able to sing at all during the autumn. I had a surgery in december but now the tumor has started to revive. Because of this I will have to take a break from all my singing duties in Finntroll. I suspect to be revived and cured in time for the summer festivals (though no promises can be made…). The last gig for the spring for me will be in Tampere, Finland on the 26th of January. I will be momentarily replaced by Tommy Еberg (Bloodshed) and on some gigs (for example Moscow) by Tapio Vilska (Sethian, ex-Darkwoods my Betrothed, ex-Nattvindens Grеt, ex-Wizzard). I hope these guys will (…and trust me they will!) troll your asses off! I am sincerely sorry that it had to come to this and I shall overcome. Inquiries can be made to my personal e-mail: herra_sysi@hotmail.com Keep trollinґ Katla Nothing really to add... :(

Nightwish started to record their upcoming album in Finnvox with drum recording, and drums are ready now. The session continues in Kitee and in March they will go back to Finnvox to record vocals and mixing. The upcoming album includes 11 new songs and one cover -song. The still nameless album has a theme, but Tuomas doesn't call it a "concept" -album. The album has also more authentic string-sounds. If everything goes right, new album is out at the end of May/beginning of June 2002.

I've just reviewed ataraxia's 'suenos' cd in the review board. It's a fantastic album and i hope you'll like it as much as i did. It leaves me with only one regret : i guess i'm not a so good reviewer i can't share all the feelings i had listening to the cd as much as i would have wanted.

According to inflames.com and www.metalmeltdown.com, Iced Earth and In Flames are going to tour the US in March, with a possible opening band in Jag Panzer. Sounds like it could be a pretty explosive tour to hit the states (bout damn time...)
Shaman have recruited a new guitarist (Juha Takkunen from from Jyväskylä) and a violinist (Jaakko Lemmetty from Porvoo).

From www.Sentenced.org: All recordings are now finished. The mixing and mastering will take place at Finnvox, Helsinki February 4th – 14th. The release date of the album has not yet been decided. For us the sooner is the better but the release date is more up to Century Media than it is to us. In any case it seems that they will push it at least to May. At least one single will be put out before the album. The album will include 11 songs (about 45 mins). As we had so much stuff to choose from, we could build the album from songs that are as different as possible from each other. Also, we could pick only the strongest songs, and I think the new album album will be clearly our best one yet. The songs differ from each other not only musicwise but also lyricwise and productionwise. Because of that the new album will be the absolute opposite to a theme album. The album title and song list will be published here sometime after the mixing. /Lopakka
From www.Manowar.com: MANOWAR and The Kingdom Of Steel announce that MANOWAR will headline the Lorca Rock Festival on Saturday July 13, 2002 The festival will be held in the south of Spain in the city of Lorca 60kms from Murcia. More details to follow. Blood and Damnation, I need to move to Europe! I'm missing out on too many Manowar concerts!

Once again - big news from our friends Finntroll and once again Penny Dreadful is in avant-garde! Just a few minutes ago Finntroll has officially announced that the band is looking for the keyboard player to join them on their European tour. Finntroll will tour with the Norwegian band Windir as a support act and 15 gigs are already confirmed. Unfortunately, in the power of certain circumstances, Trollhorn have to stay in Finland and cannot perform with the band on these concerts. Finntroll’s guitarist Somnium also underlined that Trollhorn DOES NOT leave the band. The dates will be unveiled shortly. Look for announces! Everybody PREPARE!

Just in on the Hagalaz' Runedance site: The new Hagalaz' Runedance album called "Frigga's Web" has been recorded in September/October. Promo copies will be available this month. Read more about "Frigga's Web" in the music/lyrics section. Needless to say, I'm now running around my apartment like a chicken with its head cut off, I'm so excited. Read the lyrics, they're a lot more developed and even more personal that the last album "Volven." To be blunt, I'm quite excited about this. Woohoo!

The Grammy Nominations have just been released. For the category of Metal Performance: "The Wizard," Black Sabbath "Disciple," Slayer "Left Behind," Slipknot "Chop Suey!," System of a Down "Schism," Tool Am I the only person on this side of the Atlantic who realizes that only two of the five bands nominated actually perform and create Metal? Bad enough that Linkin Park and the Boy Bands actually got nominated for anything... Hopefully it'll go to either Sabbath or Slayer. But I have little faith that it will. At least Metallica didn't get nominated. Right, I get my degree and enough money saved up, its Ed moving to Europe time.

It has been rumored here in the Underground of Los Angeles that Nevermore will be opening for Judas Priest and Anthrax in their upcoming January show here in LA. As I'll be at that show, I really hope this is true. Maybe I can score an interview with them while I'm there. Also, it looks like theres trouble between Nevermore and Century Media. In a statement from Nevermore's site: "CM has put out a press statement that appeared on blabbermouth.net and bravewords....it is totally false. We did not withdraw from the tour to work on our new cd. We were told the tour was cancelled. At this time they are trying to force us to resign before our contract is up....so come to your own conclusions" Sounds kinda odd. Why would CM try and get rid of one of their best bands?

Happy new year! :) Here's the first news item for 2002 (taken from the official Watchtower homepage): "The new WatchTower is not ready. I know none of you want this news, but it is true. We are to demo all of the material before we actually record it for a release. We will be entering the next step... pre-production (molding the songs, and recording them, possibly re-recording them and/or rehearsing them enough to refine and make changes if needed). We want this to be the best!"
