Legendary guitarist Gary Moore is scheduled to release a new studio album in late May through Sanctuary Records. The as-yet-untitled 10-track set will feature some blues standards, together with plenty of blues rock originals, which have been recorded over the past three months. The complete track listing is still undecided at this time, but hopefully will be finalized in the next week or so. Joining Gary on the album is regular drummer Darrin Mooney and an ex-band member, Bob Daisley (ex-OZZY OSBOURNE) on bass, who was last heard on the "Still Got the Blues" CD in 1990. In other news, BBC Radio 2 will be airing the program "Breaking the Barricades - The Story of Ulster Rock" on Saturday, February 28at 9:00 p.m. GMT. In the show Gary can be heard talking about his early playing days in Ireland and the various bands he was associated with during that time. The show is presented by former UNDERTONES frontman, Fergal Sharkey, who provides an insight into the rock and roll side of music from Northern Ireland. The show can be heard over the Internet at this location. Also on the Moore-related front, the May edition of Guitar Player magazine will feature an article on the U.S. release of the "Monsters of Rock" live CD and DVD (featuring Moore), along with an interview with Gary. Letzte Instanz' vocalist Robin has left the band to concentrate on his career as an actor, and guitarist Tin and bassist Fx are no longer with the Instanz, too. It seems like Fx needs more time for his booking agency and his kid(s) and Tin, being frustrated by Robin's departure, has not only quit the band but music business in general. Remaining members Holly D., Das O., Benni Cellini, Muttis Stolz and Specki T.D are looking for new musicians at the moment.
FINNTROLL's new full-length album, "Nattfödd", will be released in Europe (excluding Finland) on April 26 ? one week later than originally announced. A Finnish release is expected on April 13. The band will still be issuing a five-song EP, "Trollhammaren", on March 15 through Century Media Records. Both records were recorded and mixed at Sundicoop Studio in Savonlinna, Finland in November 2003 by Tuomo Valtonen and were produced by keyboardist Trollhorn. Mastering duties were handled by Mika Jussila at Finnvox Studios in Helsinki. As on their previous records, the band successfully combines black metal with very melodic folk elements and humppa, a kind of polka, in such a powerful and highly entertaining way that even the hardest of metalheads are pleased to join the dance. The new Haggard album "Eppur Si Muove" will be released on 22.03.04.
AC/DC have started writing material for their next album, tentatively due before the end of the year. Fifa Riccobono, the chief executive of Albert Productions, AC/DC's Australian record label and international publisher, has confirmed to Undercover that songs have been written for the next record but the band are yet to start recording. One thing that AC/DC have no plans to release anytime soon is a "best of" collection, according to Fifa. "They guys aren't interested in a best of. They never have been," she said, as reported by Undercover. "They have had a wonderful philosophy. They don't like compilation albums and have always turned them down." The band have generally shied away from putting their music to advertising although they have agreed to certain products that fit with their audience. In Australia, Holden has used versions of AC/DC songs "Are You Ready", "Thunderstruck" and "Back In Black" as recorded by a cover band. AC/DC have also allowed their music to be included in various movies, although they have never endorsed the films. Most recently, "It's A Long Way To The Top" was used in Jack Black's "School of Rock". YOU AM I and TEX PERKINS recorded a version of "Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap" for the Brian Brown/John Goodman film "Dirty Deeds", and the songs of AC/DC will also feature in the upcoming movie "Thunderstruck". The movie is about five friends who decide to visit the grave of Bon Scott after a near-death experience. source : blabbermouth
