Further to rumours on the Internet that paradise lost have left EMI Records, we can confirm that it's true. However, a new record deal has already been negotiated, and the bands forthcoming album is still scheduled for a September release. Details of the label will be announced on completion of the deal. There is also a hive of activity concerning Paradise Lost's back catalogue going on. In the US Koch are planning to re-release Draconian Times with 2 extra tracks; the Smiths Cover 'How soon is now' and 'Fear', as well as re-releasing the best of album 'Reflection'. This will be swiftly followed by the US release of the 2 EMI albums: Host and B.I.N. Also, in Europe Music For Nations and the band are currently going through material for a scheduled DVD release. This is likely to be called 'Evolve' and will feature live footage, promo videos and behind the scenes footage. More details to follow….
It seems The sins of thy beloved are missing in action. It's been a hell of time they haven't update their site or given news to webzines. The band was not going that well, after their 'perpetual desolation' release and the many line up changes. If anyone has a clue about what they are up too, feel free to email us.
Lacuna coil has announced they won't be able to gig with my dying bride in London cause they have to work hard on their next release. Actually the band is in studio.
OTYG, the side project of VINTERSORG/BORKNAGAR vocalist Vintersorg and VINTERSORG guitarist Mattias Marklund, has been officially “put to sleep”, according to an official statement from the duo. “Both me (Vintersorg) and Mattias feel that we can't go on with OTYG as we have lost our burning inspiration and lust in that musical arena. And under those circumstances we've decided to, instead of do a recording that we never would have the true feeling for and probably couldn't fold our musical spirit into, just let it be. Recordings just for the sake of it never turns out great, and our policy is to put our deepest emotion and soul in what ever we do, so…..We need to challenge ourselves to the utter edge or our abilities and unfortunately we don't have that situation. Maybe in the future we'll do a recording if our minds and souls want that, but right now it would be to go back several years on our musical course, which every artist strives to avoid. Progression is far more exciting than regression!!” Source : blabbermouth

"Sanctuary Records are re-releasing the first six Gamma Ray studio albums over the coming weeks. All albums have been digitally remastered and are coming as exclusive digi-packs with a new cover artwork and with several bonus tracks. The 'remasters' will be released both individually and as a box set. The individual albums will be released on March 4th while the box set will be out on March 18th. Both the box set and the individual albums will strictly limited and as such will be available only for few weeks! The box will also contain a special fold-up poster with all new album cover artworks on it. The individual albums will not have the Gamma Ray logo on the front - instead they will have a sticker with the band logo and the respective album title on it. Why this? Well, peel off the stickers and put the six albums together. A very nice puzzle might turn out! The albums were digitally remastered by the band themselves whereas Dirk Schlaechter did most of the work. The new cover artworks were once again created by Herve Monjeaud who already did the artwork for "No World Order". Here is a brief list of what bonus tracks will be on which album. You can also check out the newer cover artworks by clicking on the respective album title. The design of the box set can be seen here as well." Source : gamma ray official site.

The following message was published on Metal-Rules.com: "Elvenking proudly announces that Mr. Martin Walkyier (ex-Skyclad, Return to the Sabbat) will come to Italy next week to discuss the future plans with the band (for his appereance on the Elves' next album!), and all what concerns other projects that will involve both the band and the English singer! More than this, Martin will be on stage with the band the 24th of March at the Metal.it festival to perform some Skyclad songs together. This will be only a prelude to all the future projects the guys are planning...future projects that would probably lead Elvenking to important European stages." What's with R2TS, Martin?

Something bizarre and frightening happens to me lately. I put all my Poison, Sonata Arctica and Helloween CDs on the shelf and started listening to a huge amount of Black Metal. My new motto is "The Blacker - the better!" Right now you can take a look at me, studying the effect of Yersinia Pestis on the Scandinavian Black Metal, presented by the one of the most recognisable bands in this field - Dark Throne! Enjoy (while you can)!

There's another... hmmm... personal opinion in Reviews section. This time my victim is Seven Witches and their new CD "Xiled To Infinity And One". Don't shoot, I surrender!
The release date for the new album of Lake Of Tears, "The Neonai", is set for April 29, this year! The names of a few songs are already announced: "Return of Ravens", "The Shadowshires", "Solitude" and "Nathalie and the Fire Flies". There are also a rumours about the break-up of Lake Of Tears. Daniel Brenarre, the guitarist and the singer of the band, seemed to confirm them, stating in the interview to metal-realm.com: "We have already broken up". "The Neonai" will also be the last band's album for Black Mark Productions. In the same interview Daniel underlined his intention not to continue his relationship with this recording company: "If I am to continue doing music I'd like to try out something else". Would be such a shame if Lake Of Tears will go out of the picture...

Ataraxia has just published the february newsletter and announce a new album called 'MON SEUL DESIR' "MON SEUL DESIR" CD (Cruel Moon / Cold Meat Industry 2002) This is one of our albums that doesn't own a defined style like we did in many other occasions to portray especial historical periods, forgotten civilisations or artistic masterpieces, for this reason we think that this coming release will be in a pure ATARAXIA's style. This happened sometimes in the past, after very engaging and monumental works where all our energies were employed to carry on a concept theme (not only musical but also literary, historical, archaeological). So a new bizarre creature is born in total freedom in this beginning of 2002, just a mirror of our most intimate feelings in the last 12 months. This coming album has two great literary and iconographical inspirations but the deepest source of inspiration comes from some happenings of that crazy, troubled, unexpected 2001 that turned up-side-down the lives of many of us after many years or apparent tranquillity and stability. These two further sources are "The Canticle of Canticles" of King Solomon (one of the most beautiful piece of poetry portraying love both in a symbolic/spiritual and in a most bodily perspective) and the cycle of late-Mediaeval tapestries "La Dame à la Licorne" collected in the Mediaeval Museum of Cluny in Paris. These 6 tapestries represent in a symbolic way the 5 senses and the overcoming of them to find equilibrium, pleasure and purity. We could easily say that all of this has the same meaning of the name of the band, the word ATARAXIA. We deeply perceive that this research, this strange fatal meeting with the tapestries and the Canticle has been driven by destiny. After many previous albums based on pain, struggle, persecuted, far lands, voyagers and pilgrims, sunken civilisations we have finally released an album based on love, not a simplistic taken for granted vision of love, but love in all his power, light and strength, unique love driven by destiny, the one that unifies elected souls after centuries of solitude, the one that can save our wrecked poor life when we are agonising, hopeless, deceived. The songs are actually various, you can find ballads made of high clear skies where the wind blows over a Northern Ocean, wide fresh surfaces of green, watery hypnotic waves where it's possible to perceive that salty essence of the sea, hidden gardens full of colours, the up and down of the tide, but we have also Eastern and Mediaeval love songs completely remade and rearranged by us with many acoustic instruments like percussions, ancient guitars, bells and various amenities. These last songs have all a contemporary nuance, old traditions carried here in our times to be heard and understood with a modern spirit. Listening "Mon Seul Désir" you'll find a green path leading to an enchanted lake in a sort of purifying journey to get rid of our painful, unhappy condition, you'll perceive the deep connection among love and music, a rosy awakening at dawn, a moment where everything is undefined and the passing among a dreamy state to a conscious one is prophetic and magic describable only through the poetry of notes."

London based British Metal Band Dirty Deeds new album goes to be mastered on 6th March 2002, with a release date to be announced soon after. For more information and a new photo of the band check out DirtyDeeds.co.uk.
From www.themissionuk.com: We do, however, have some bad news - It is with considerable regret that Playground Recordings/MWIS are informing you that due to unavoidable delays actually getting the limited edition 7" double vinyl records transported across from the Czech Republic (ie they arrived in the UK a week later than originally advised!), we have had no option but to delay the release date of "Shine Like The Stars" until March 11. As a direct result of the vinyl's late arrival, although the records have now been numbered the band had insufficient time to add their signatures prior to the Astoria show before taking deserved and planned short breaks after over long five weeks of touring. For those of you who have already ordered your copy in advance, the vinyl singles can be supplied to you on March 11. However, if you want the band's signatures included as per the original plan, there is going to be a delay. Please let us know via e-mail at playground@themissionuk.com if you would prefer to wait. Again, sincerest apologies that every effort made on our part was not able to resolve this successfully.
From www.newmodelarmy.org : Lost Songs - In store across Europe and in The Shop NOW As detailed before, LOST SONGS is a double CD of the collected bonus tracks and unfinished songs from The Love Of Hopeless Causes up until present. The 22 tracks are split as per the track listing below. There are NINE tracks on the album that have never been available before (other than on bootlegs), the packaging is great and it has been budgeted to retail at the normal price of a single CD album (if someone is making an unhealthy profit at our/your expense do let us know). CD1 - B Sides Brother Sunset Southwest Song To The Men Of England Refugee Higher Wall Far Better Thing Rainy Night 65 Caslen BD7 F(Sharp)NY See You In Hell CD2 - Abandoned Tracks Freedom 1991 Wanting Still Here If You Can't Save Me Falling Trees In Winter Knife Burning Season Coming Up Over The Wire (French Remix)

Penny Dreadful has got a new Multimedia Section!!! :D Right now you can download
My favourite band of all times, Helloween, has announced the tracklisst for their 3rd CD of the upcoming "Best Of" album. The list looks the following way: 1. Shit & Lobster 2. Oriental Journey 3. I don't care, you don't care 4. Ain't got nothin' better 5. Moshi Moshi-Shiki No Uta 6. Can't fight your desire 7. Star Invasion 8. Silicon Dreams 9. Grapowski's Malmsuite 1001 10. Electric Eye 11. A Game we shouldn't Play All these songs has been published before on the B-sides of the different singles. The album will NOT contain any unreleased or new songs, so I can't really see any point in releasing this CD. To tell the truth, as a die-hard fan of the band I just can't decide if I have to buy this one: from one side, as a fan, I suppose to support my fave band, but from the other side, I heard all these songs a countless times before. Actually, the whole thing looks like a BIG rip-off to me. Please, somebody prevent me from writind a "-10" type of review! A very diappointed Max. :(

Taken from the Skyclad Messageboard : I got this link from a mailinglist earlier today. This is an Estonian band called Rondellus doing a tribute album to Black Sabbath. What sets this apart from the several other tribute albums to Black Sabbath is 1.) all the covers are done by the same group and 2.) this group is not even remotely metal or even rock. They play the songs using medieval instruments and sing the songs in Latin. I downloaded two samples and it sounded pretty cool. Anyway, I figured this might be something interesting for Skyclad fans while we await the release of No Daylights, Nor Heeltaps. Here's the webpage for the album: www.sabbatum.com SteevL
I just added a review to the new release of Virgin Steele. Check it out!
