'Rock trio King's X is a putting a new twist on the practice of established bands releasing "pre-fame" material. The new studio album 'Black Like Sunday,' scheduled for release on May 20, 2003, on Brop! Records/Metal Blade Records (Europe: InsideOut Music), features freshly recorded songs written and performed live more than 20 years ago, well before the band changed its name to King's X and earned its first record deal. The band used two different names during this period. NOTE: 'Black Like Sunday' is NOT an album of previously recorded but unreleased "vault" material. King's X recently recorded the songs in the studio; they are NOT live recordings. Longtime fans had kept asking vocalist/guitarist Ty Tabor, vocalist/bass guitarist Doug Pinnick and vocalist/drummer Jerry Gaskill to bring these songs back to life by finally recording and releasing them, and the band decided the time was right. The 14 songs on 'Black Like Sunday' include: "Johnny," "Bad Luck," "Danger Zone," "Finished," "Won't Turn Back," "Screamer," "Rock Pile," "Working Man," "Save Us," "Down," "Two," "You're the Only One," "Dreams" and "Black Like Sunday."' Follow this link to read the full press release.
"Beautiful World" the newest solo recording since 2001's "so flows the current" is nearing completion, presently in the final post production stage of artwork and mastering. We had hoped to have it manufactured and available here in April, however, circumstances conspired otherwise with last minute track substitutions and additional recording
Sadly Ruth Galloway is no longer able to tour with us due to her commitments as a mother but we are pleased to say that we have welcomed guest vocalist Emily Ovenden with open arms. She has joined the band on a permanent basis and is also in charge of our website. The words computer and geek come to mind! We are continuing to write and rehearse material for a new album and live show, which will incorporate more theatrical elements. They play, they sing, they tap dance! Only joking but we are embarking on something very new. Anyway that's about all folks. Have a lovely spring. Boing. Boing
"Alabaster" (Louisa's new album) will be presented soon on Prikosnovenie in a digipak with lyrics and poetry. Promo has begun with various Euro magazines including the next issue of D-Side in France. All other projects have been delayed including our remix for Hungry Lucy, various collaborations and completion of our new website.
Chivalrous Regards, after a long and cold season we are finally ready to give you some fresh Springtime news concerning our coming album, some special and acoustic long awaited concerts and the rich amount of changes and up-dating in our official website. "DES PAROLES BLANCHES" NEW Digisingle and 10 inches Vinyl release date June 13 2003 Music for endless white landscapes. Alabaster cliffs, the rough thundering sound of the ocean, the flight of sea birds over nuanced surfaces, a deep refreshing sleep under a tree in a rainy summer afternoon. Some white words, never pronounced, some whìte emotions, never revealed, white breaths of a lost season. A new concept album containing three long suites inspired by the Norman landscapes where struggle leads to purication and the communion with nature to the abandon of the body armor to get the lightness of birds and the purity of the air. Classic, synth and bass guitars, textures of keyboards, clarinet, flute and Francesca's voices take the path leading from human suffering to naked contemplation. In a leaf falling, in a wing shivering instant we lived the essence of an infinite spiritual voyage. Songs : Etretat, Veules Les Roses, Hovering (part I, part II). Total lenght 22 minutes
The Truth Inside The Dying Sun" has been finished and it is ready for prime time. What really happened with our ex-label "Screeming Bannshee USA" and the release of the album? Screeming Bannshee FAILED TO RELEASE THE ALBUM and they no longer exist!! We're looking for a new label, so stay tuned..

Swedish progressive dark metallers EVERGREY have parted ways with Patrick Carlsson and have replaced with a new skinsman presently known only as "Jonas". The following is a message from Patrick explaining his departure from the group: "After being the drummer of EVERGREY for ten years, I have now decided to leave the band. These ten years have been a lot of fun, with many great experiences and a lot of hard work. The reason for leaving the band is strictly personal, I don't feel like I have enough time for the band anymore. "To conclude I want to thank everyone that has been involved with the band. I also want to thank my sponsors, for helping me throughout the years. A special thank you to all the fans, who have supported EVERGREY all these years. "Thank you, Tom, Michael, Henrik and Rikard for a wonderful time! "With these words I entrust the drummer position to my successor, Jonas. He is a very talented drummer and I am sure that he will do an excellent job in EVERGREY."

For those of you who dunno, there are two mailing list made by John Markley. He made the very first skyclad mailing list a long time ago (much time before the creation of the first official clad site). The list is almost down, but well, there are many members. (Check the archive, it's hilarious and interesting). Plus maybe we could relaunch it with your help. check it on yahoo egroups. http://fr.groups.yahoo.com/group/Skyclad?yguid=120003031 By the way, he just created a new mailing list dedicated to folk metal in general. http://fr.groups.yahoo.com/group/folkmetal?yguid=120003031

With her latest album Frigga's Web - the high-light of HAGALAZ' RUNEDANCE, ANDREA HAUGEN has announced that the circle has closed for Hagalaz' Runedance. After all she considers herself to be an artist and thus she feels the need for new inspiration in her music, and create a new sound. She longs for more artistic freedom in her musical expressions and will focus more on her personal feelings, dreams, inner visions, her obscure experiences and the magic that is surrounding her, inspired by images of nature, decaying cities, parallel worlds and of course mythology. She wishes to explore other artistic areas as well, create visual art and video concepts and is currently working with like-minded individuals from the alternative scene on various projects. And it thus appears that the 'NEBELHEXE' (fog-witch), was merely dormant, because Andrea has decided to bring new life to her old name. She has new reasons to re-use this name as well, amongst those are magical encounters with what she interpretates as her "ghost birds" - white ravens, white crows and white owls, that have inspired her spiritual world. Rumours has it she is currently also working on a musical project and a theatre play with Martin Walkyier (ex-Skyclad and Sabbath). For more information: www.nebelhexe.com

Celtic Frost have made available for exclusive use via www.celticfrost.com one of the demos for the new album currently in the works. The song is called "Ground", written in 2002/2003. It is important to remember that the version available here is a mere pre-production demo, recorded at the band's rehearsal space in Zurich, Switzerland, earlier this year. Pre-production demos are used to further develop material and to showcase new music to producers, engineers, and the band's industry partners. The final version of "Ground", to be released on the forthcoming album, features new instrument and vocal tracks, recorded in a proper studio environment and resulting in a much better overall production and sound quality. Turismo sent in the following news: Just came back from another great Schandmaul-gig yesterday and i have brought back some news. As you might know former bassman and founder Hubsi Widmann left (or had to leave..) the band last october after the presentation show for their new album 'Narrenkönig'. Since then Matthias (Richter?) had played the bass on numerous gigs but always said he is just 'helping out' until Schandmaul have found their new bassist. Being the first choice of the band and many fans (erh - windmills) i know, he finally agreed to join the band permanently. So the line-up is complete again...
Submitted by Bessi Egilsson : The band is still with Hammerheart Records for two more releases. From the 26.4 ot the 9.6 they'll be in Sonic Studio in Dublin to record their new album "Pagan". Thanks Bessi :)

Finland's NIGHTWISH will enter the studio on October 27 to begin recording the follow-up to last year's "Century Child". The band will once again use their own studio in Kitee to record the drums, bass and keyboards/synths, while the vocals and guitars will be recorded at Helsinki's Finnvox facility. NIGHTWISH hope to complete the recordings by the end of March 2004 and issue the as-yet-untitled effort in early June. "I am definitely feeling some pressure with regards to the songwriting for the new album, I won't even try to deny that," said NIGHTWISH keyboardist Tuomas Holopainen. "But I have already written one very good track, so I'm not worried. I've gotta say that I have to write a bit faster in the coming months if I'm going to write everything before the studio sessions." With regards to the musical direction of the upcoming effort, Holopainen said, "I can no longer go to our web site to check the discussion forums anymore. It's pretty confusing reading everyone's opinions on what the new album should sound like. I think I've already heard about a hundred different opinions on the subject, from 'They should sound like the first album' to 'They should only have ballads," laughed Tuomas. NIGHTWISH's last CD, "Century Child", has been certified double platinum in Finland for sales in excess of 60,000 copies. The album was last year's second-highest selling Finnish release in Finland. When taking into account foreign albums, "Century Child" was still in the fifth place.

The band who have made 11 multi-platinum albums and sold a staggering 70 million records to date, are once again enjoying the limelight with an eagerly awaited new album and world tour. The band, who were recently tipped by highly influential music bible the NME as one of the most exciting things to happen in 2003, decided to reform in late 2001. Since then they have been hard at work in the studio, writing and recording for the new album and preparing for the live show. source: www.duranduran.com Wondering why I posted this news? Official Statement Katatonia/Finntroll Tour 2003 To whom it may concern, As the situation concerning this tour and the future of Finntroll has been under some dispute and discussion amongst promoters, fans and other parties, the band wishes to relate the following: We are doing the tour as previously agreed. We do this with heavy hearts, as the sudden loss of Teemu "Somnium" Raimoranta, a close friend and one of the leading forces behind this band, gave us a blow from which the recovery will take a long time. We feel that dropping everything now, cancelling the tour and all the plans we together agreed for this band, would be an insult on Teemu's memory. Going back on the road was also the particular wish of his family and close ones. We feel that this is the best way to honor our friends' memory, taking the music out to the fans. On the following gigs the second guitar will be played by a long-time friend for all of us, Mikael Karlbom, who has played as a stand in guitarist for us several times in the past. During the tour, we wish some courtesy on the part of fans, members of the press and others concerning questions about Teemu's departing, future of the band and such. We will share information in due time. Thanks to all those who have contacted us, expressed their condolances and honored our brother's memory. See you along the way, Finntroll

GAMMA RAY have pushed back the release date of their double live album, "Skeletons In the Closet", from the end of May to August 25. The mixing of the album is not yet complete owing to the late delivery of the unmixed audio masters from the mobile studio in Spain. The initial problems occurred during the live recording process at which, it was later discovered, the two recording machines were not linked for a large part of the show and therefore not synchronized. As well as this some of the audio files were "lost". Subsequently, it has taken two engineers a long time to recall the "lost" files and re-align the machines so the recording machines were running in tandem and an unmixed master could be produced. Until this laborious process was complete the mixing of the album could not commence. Rather than "rush" the mixing and deliver what the band would consider to be a sub-standard album to the fans, the decision has been made to move the release date back to allow more mixing time and so compensate for the severe technical difficulties suffered initially. GAMMA RAY would like to apologize to their fans for the delay in the release of the album and ask for their patience and hope they can appreciate that these technical problems were not of their making.

ANATHEMA guitarist Daniel "Danny" Cavanagh has posted the following message to the band's official web site: "The demos for the next album(s) are coming along well. [Bassist] Jamie [Cavanagh] arrives in England today 29th of March to start rehearsals for the gigs and for the albums too. He has some great new material. Similarly do the rest of the guys. There is such a wealth of songs that our biggest difficulty is gonna be to make one album from all the great stuff on offer. Not sure of the title yet, but the plan is to make it this year in time for an autumn release. Song titles include: 'The Natural Disaster', 'Closer', and 'Flying'. We are getting along very well now and the albums should be strong when they are done. We hope to go into a studio in May/June for a couple of weeks, mapping out everything that we have, jamming live and just generally being creative. After that, we'll see what the best album we can make is, and go forward to do that."
