We are sorry but the planned USA tour has had to be cancelled as we could not get enough venues at the right price to be able to afford the costs. We are very sorry
I have completed the music for CHRONICLES. Initial feedback from immediate family and friends and collegues is that in their opinion it is quite possibly the best, certainly amongst the absolute best albums I have ever produced. It is a truly highly inspired project that I personally feel I totally excelled on. The themes within the album are so magical, emotional, dramatic, heartfelt, making every track a classic in its own right. Its a very polished production that blends a full orchestral section with Celtic instruments, but yet has a fresh dynamic modern edge to it too. Much of the performance is what I call "Hands on" recording, where you are hearing real instruments rather than too many keyboards and synthesizers. It flows over you so smoothly, and is immediately accessible, catchy, never over powering. Without doubt it is going to be extremely popular with many of you for years to come. An instant classic and favourite. It cant be labelled as another Clan, or Comet, or anything I have produced before as it is entirely unique and the first of its kind. The cover artwork is almost finished and is superb !! For the first time ever the cover packaging presents to you a very generous booklet of the story that includes text, sketches, and artwork that depicts events in the drama and immerses you in the world of Meridia. The DVD version is also well on the way, but has much work yet to be done. The CD will be released quite soon around the AUGUST or Septemeber period
"Des paroles blanches" Digisingle available from June by Arkadyss Creations - France 10 inches vinyl available during Summer 2003. Music for endless white landscapes. Alabaster cliffs, the rough thundering sound of the ocean, the flight of sea birds over nuanced surfaces, a deep refreshing sleep under a tree in a rainy summer afternoon. Some white words, never pronounced, some white emotions, never revealed, white breaths of a lost season. A new concept album containing three long suites inspired by the Norman landscapes where struggle leads to purification and the communion with nature to the abandon of the body armor to get the lightness of birds and the purity of the air. Classic, synth and bass guitars, textures of keyboards, clarinet, flute and Francesca's voices take the path leading from human suffering to naked contemplation. In a leave falling, in a wing shivering instant we lived the essence of an infinite spiritual voyage. Songs : Etretat, Veules Les Roses, Hovering (part I, part II). Total lenght 22 minutes.

ANATHEMA have entered Parkgate Studios near Hastings, U.K. to begin recording the follow-up to 2001's "A Fine Day to Exit", tentatively due in late 2003/early 2004 through Music For Nations Records. "Things are going very well here," ANATHEMA guitarist Daniel "Danny" Cavanagh writes on the band's official web site. "For the fist time in a while we recorded live together. Drums, bass, guitars and even vocals on a few songs. The sounds we have got going are very powerful. We aim to keep things simple on this album, maximizing the tones that we have, feeling that its not necessary to stack lots of elements together to create a big sound. The songs themselves lend themselves to this simplified approach, being uncomplicated songs that get to the heart of the matter without having to go round the block to get there, if you see what I mean. "It's fair to say you can expect a variety of songs and soundscapes on this one, from peaceful and ambient tones, to sonically massive great noises that we are barely able to control. "There is a very cooperative and productive atmosphere between us, setting all our targets on a common goal of making a good album without ever compromising integrity, and without ever 'overdoing' it. "The production side of things is being handled by us, with the engineer Dan Turner doing a great job of organizing and recording what we do. We seem to understand what needs to be done and how to do it, and to that effect I can only say that if all goes to plan then this will be a good album that we can be proud to put our names to."

It will be a studio album and will be released spring 2004, which means that the fans who really wants to experience "BE" before that can come to any of the shows in August/September. It might be the only time "BE" is ever performed in original scale, and the POS event of a lifetime... Unplugged album On the 12th of May this year, we did a very special and much appreciated unplugged show in Eskilstuna - with a lot of rearranged stuff; some old songs were really dressed to kill for the occation. This show was recorded for the radio, and for a coming album! The release is scheduled for the fall of 2003, which means that you won't have to wait for next year for the next POS release! And for those of you who think this is yet another unplugged album - think again; none of the songs was left untouched..."

Shaman have changed their name from SHAMAN to KORPIKLAANI ("Forest Clan") because they've changed their language and music style (a bit :)) and to avoid being confused with "the other Shaman" from Brazil, the band of ex-Angra vocalist Andre Matos. Furthermore the band has signed a 4-album world wide record deal with Napalm Records and is preparing to unleash their first opus "Spirit Of The Forest" during the [European] autumn this year. MY DYING BRIDE have set up camp in the Academy Studios to record the follow-up to the 2001 release, "The Dreadful Hours". As yet, the album has no title, but as the band recently celebrated their 13th anniversary, the working title is "The Thirteenth Chapter". According to objective observers who have eavesdropped around the studio, the work is sounding "very dark and twisted." Recording will be finished in August, the planned release date for now is October 20. A one-off UK show at the Astoria in London, on Halloween night, will celebrate the new release
Even german computer tech newsticker heise.de reports about Bruce Dickinson making it clear that he does not share METALLICA's attitude with respect to illegal music downloading. "[...] "The album is not out yet, but please pull out our small digital recorders, MP3 players, cell phones or whatever you have. Put it on the Internet, spread it all over the world. But on one condition: When you hear the new album, if you like it, pay the equivalent of three beers to buy the record in the store. That is what keeps us alive. If you don't like the album, just forget it," Dickinson said, and the crowd went wild. "We are not like METALLICA," he added. As stated by Justin in front of 5000 witnesses in Köln and London just before Christmas, work has started on a new New Model Army studio album. Recording will take place during 2003 in the gaps left by commitments to promote the solo album and we anticipate release late '03 or early '04. source: www.newmodelarmy.org
I tried to avoid these guys for about 5 years. Always thought that the band called "Graveworm" could never work out anything interesting. Glad I had a haircut, because the desire to rip my hair out overwhelms me. Turns out I've lost those 5 years! Read the review. Or just go and get it now - IT KILLS!

We are in final preparations for our Christmas album, which we will be recording in July, all very exciting. The album will be called Mistletoe & Wine, no sniggering at the back please and is dedicated to Cliff Richard, only joking!!! The name has Mediaeval origins and has nothing to do with Sir Cliff
We are very sad to say that our beloved friend and mentor Dorothy Carter died on Saturday 7th of June 2003 of a stoke. She was 68 and will be sorely missed on many levels as friend, songwriter, instrumentalist and out and out party girl. Dorothy performed contemporary, folk, traditional and mediaeval music for many years with her large collection of instruments. For the past several years she toured Europe, Canada and the United States performing everything from classical concerts to avant garde theatre and Berlin cabaret. Born in New York City in 1935, “Miss Dorothy” began studying classical piano at age 6; she studied at Bard College in New York, the London Royal Academy and Guildhall School of Music in France. She is survived by a son and daughter, Justin and Celeste Carter of New Orleans, and a grandson, Damien Carter. Along with her recording career with the Mediaeval Baebes, she recently released a CD, titled “Dorothy Carter, 2003” and has also produced two albums, “Troubadour” and “Waillee Waillee”. Dorothy performed at concert halls, music festivals and coffee houses worldwide playing unusual stringed instruments such as dulcimer, zither, psaltery and Hurdy-Gurdy. She co-founded the Mediaeval Baebes eight years ago after meeting Katharine Blake in Germany on the Cabaret circuit. Her album "Lonesome Dove" was recorded in 2000 and has been described as breathtakingly beautiful. You can purchase it from the merchandise page of this website. When I think about Dorothy and the impact she has had on my life and the lives of the people around her I become very frustrated because I cannot find the right words to describe the person she was. I am almost ashamed to try but I feel I owe it to her. Dorothy was unique, truly and utterly unique and I cannot contain her personality in a few tame words. Neither can I comprehend the idea that someone so vital can no longer be here. I do not mean this to be one of those gushing accounts of a person, who becomes almost saintly once they have passed from this world. Dorothy was not a saint, in fact sometimes she was very naughty and that’s what people loved about her. I was always so impressed that she could do things I suspected I would grow too sensible to do. She was growing old disgracefully and I was proud of her. I always used to boast, “she’s the wildest one of us all – she can drink us under the table”. I’m not sure this was really true but people wanted to believe it because she had a legendary quality. She was a pretty radical individual who never stopped discovering new things and was always ready for adventure. But this didn’t make her one of those feisty characters, grabbing what life had to offer, in fact she had a modesty so deeply ingrained that she hated to take the praise she so rightly deserved. Dorothy seemed to be devoted to her family and talked of them often, especially her grandson, and if I miss her terribly her family must miss her so much more. My thoughts are with them now. Goodbye Dorothy. The world is a different place without you. Love Marie Marie Findley (Mediaeval Baebe) Dorothy we love you very much and will never forget your spirit. From all the Baebes

" Temple of Dreams-Live!" Recorded at the Great American Music Hall in San Francisco, these 12 incendiary tracks feature Uilleann piper Todd Denman, Egyptian percussionist Reda Darwish, Gari Hegedus on oud & violin, & our band from the 2000-2002 period. The excitement & energy from both the band & the audience is very palpable throughout the 1 hour plus of music & mayhem & represents the band sound Sharon & Winter envisioned on their first CD. There are exciting versions of Lamplight, Kashlimar, & Word of Honor; 2 songs from that night's Celtic set; the tail end of the bellydance performance by dancer Ishtara (backed by Reda Darwish on dumbek); & 5 new originals. Definitely a memorable night
Some news about "A Semblance of Normality": - The band has just about finished recording the new album - just one or two vocal bits and percussion overdubs, etc. to do (3/4 days at the most). - George used an acoustic violin again (and the results have been excellent). - There have also been a couple of session players in to add bits that have worked really nicely (keys, whistles etc). - Arron has played a 'Bodhran' (celtic traditional goat skin drum) on a couple of tracks.
