I'm proud to announce that Wendy Goodall is to produce her debut album later this year. An album based on Tudor England and the English Elizabethan period. Courtly dances, medieval dances! Performed on instruments of the historical period and weaved with the sounds of Abbey's and castle's. This is going to be a rare treat and an original production style. No title as yet. As many of you will already be aware Wendy sang on Shoshone Dream and Anam Cara; wrote and performed on Christmas Tapestry and Spirit of Christmas; co-performed on the now deleted series Bach, Beethoven and Mozart with Ocean Sounds. More news will follow......... Source : Medwyn goodall official site
Mixing, mastering and authoring is now complete, so it's off to the presses for the new DVD "Timeless, The National Parks". The soundtrack features 5.1 surround sound mixes of 10 O'Hearn compositions ranging from the Ancient Dreams period to last year's So Flows the Current. "The National Parks" DVD is scheduled for late fall release. The man behind the camera is master cinematographer, David Fortney. www.davidfortney.com. Recording is underway for a new O'Hearn album which is developing nicely. More details as they become available. source : Patrick O'Hearn official site
The next Chris Spheeris solo recording will be something very different. All Chris is saying is that the primary instrument is one that he has rarely used on his recordings. With all going smoothly or at all predictably, as recordings rarely do, release could be late spring to early summer. source : Chris Spheeris official page

Gamma Ray have announced that they will record a new live album on The Skeletons In the Closet Tour 2002 this fall. The album will have the same name as the tour motto, a provisional release for the new live output has been set for March 2003. With all the rare songs the band will play on the tour in October/November and that have never been available on a previous live release, chances are good that "The Skeletons In The Closet" will turn out as a Double CD! If you haven't taken part in the setlist voting for the 'Skeletons' tour yet, make sure you choose your favourite 'forgotten' songs soon as the voting period ends on August 31st. Send us an email with the 15 songs you want to hear on the upcoming tour … and don't forget, this tour shall feature those songs Gamma Ray usually don't play live so don't vote the standard numbers this time. source: www.gamma-ray.com

THE GATHERING have commenced the mixing process for their as-yet-untitled new full-length effort, tentatively due in January through the group's own Psychonaut Records. According to drummer Hans Rutten, "we're all relieved and satisfied as it turned out excellent. Right now we've streamlined the album into a 10-track full length, a mere 50 minutes of music. Those 10 tracks work with each other, they are making all individual songs even stronger. The detailing and giving the songs the right balance/mix was sometimes a harsh and cruel process. Throwing away mixes of 3 days work, it's painful, spending so many times on details which in the end we didn't use at all. Kill your darlings. But it's the only way. "We still have some work left, we need to master after the mixing process is done, but we are getting a more clear picture day by day." Among the tracks set to appear on the forthcoming CD are the following: 01. A Life All Mine (feat. ULVER's Trickster G, a.k.a. Christophorus G Rygg) 02. Even The Spirits Are Afraid 03. Broken Glass 04. We Just Stopped Breathing 05. Golden Grounds 06. Jelena 07. You Learn About It 08. Souvenirs source : blabbermouth.net
Germany's EVEREVE will enter Commusication Studios in Frankenthal in November to begin recording fifth full-length album for an early 2003 release through Massacre/Sony Records source : blabbermouth.net
According to reports PARADISE LOST have changed the proposed title of their forthcoming studio album to Symbol Of Life from the previously reported Deus. The CD is currently scheduled for an October 14th release through G.U.N./ BMG Records in Europe, the North American release will follow a short time after through Koch Entertainment.

Due to fuck-ups from the Wacken HQ alot of you - our loyal fans - missed Candlemass show last weekend. We are so sorry for this and can only blame a sloppy organization. Showtimes for bands do change, and it's up to the promotor to inform everybody about the changes in both the german and in the english language. This was not done properly according to several fans we spoke to. Not even our collegues in other bands knew about the time change. We can only hope the band will continue, and that there will be a time in the near future, perhaps next summer, when we can meet again. The gig was great, it's just sad all of you couldn't participate. In all, I can say that the chaos started earlier on the day when the Wacken transportation service forgot to pick us up in Hamburg. We arrived 3 hours late to the festival site and missed several interviews, plus the signing at Rock Hards tent. It's very important to us to meet our fans and do interviews when we are out on the road. Without you and the great dedicated people that are doing the magazines and the fanzines we are nothing. We were very prepared to give everything at Wacken. Unfortunately due to things beyond our control we were not allowed to do that. We are so sorry!! Leif Edling, for the band. source: www.candlemass.net

Holland's THE GATHERING have incredibly seen three of their scheduled festival appearances cancelled for reasons that were entirely beyond the band's control. Here's the group's latest statement on the matter: "First of all, the promoter of the festival in Crete has advised us that they cannot proceed with the booking of THE GATHERING for their festival on 17th August. The reason given is that the production and infrastructure costs have gone way over budget and will not be able to pay the artists, unless they make some cuts to the proposed bill. Secondly, the festival in Moscow on the weekend of 24th & 25th August has been completely cancelled. The city authorities originally refused to grant a license for the proposed open air festival. The promoter then moved the event to an inside venue. However, his main sponsors then withdrew their financial support and he was not able to secure alternative sponsors. "Finally, the proposed festival in Vicenza, Italy on 15th September has also been cancelled, due to lack of sponsorship." source: Blabbermouth.net

From the official Bluehorses homepage: We are proud and excited to announce that our old pal, world-class electric fiddler, Mark Knight is joining Liz on the Bluehorses frontline! Clarssically trained, Mark was a founder member of the excellent 'TUT' (His last album with them, Skeleton dance' is one of the fave discs on the box here at BH Towers). Mark has been the Official Demonstrator of Bridge Violins for several years and has developed some fantastic ideas in digital effects for the violin. We're sure that you'll all give Mark a big BH welcome and know you'll all be completely knocked out by his stunning fiddling! While we're very much looking forward to working with Mark, we still have to keep looking out for a permenent member to take over at some point. So if anyone knows someone who might fit the bill, please put us in touch... They should be... Female, probably aged 25-35 Probably classically trained, but with abilty to play traditional styles and improvise Blues/Jazz/Rock etc etc. We're also interested in finding a female flute/whistle/etc player.
Mihkel Raud, producer of the "Sabbatum" CD, sent in the following: As you may have noticed, our website has been quite difficult to get access to during the past couple of days. This is a result of some serious publicity the CD has received lately. The traffic to Sabbatum.com has been enormous and the server we were hosting the site on just couldn't handle the job. I have spent a few very long nights trying to resolve our server issue and I'm happy to report that everything should work just fine again. We have removed the Sabbatum website to a much faster server with more traffic capabilities. It all began with LA Times doing a feature on Sabbatum about a week ago. You can read it here: http://www.calendarlive.com/top/1,1419,L-LATimes-Calendar-X!ArticleDetail-66697,00.html Then, the Associated Press ran a news item inspired by the LA Times story. You can read it here: http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&ncid=816&e=3&cid=816&u=/ap/20020726/ap_on_en_mu/estonia_black_sabbath_2 The Sabbatum news spread likea wildfire all over the Internet. And the result was....wow, thousands of visitors trying to access our website at the same time. I'm really sorry for the inconvenience the server crackdown may have caused you. But it seems that everything is under control again. Happy surfing!

CATHEDRAL have completed work on their latest album, entitled ether Songs Of Praise (according to the band's official web site) or Seventh Coming (as reported by Terrorizer magazine), for an October release through Dreamcatcher Records. "We've finished mixing and I think it's turned out really good," frontman Lee Dorrian told Terrorizer. "The songs are very strong and a bit more melodic than the last album. It's not as extreme. It's heavy, but in a different way." The band recorded the album at Chapel Studios in Linolnshire with producer Kit Woolven, who had previously worked with the group on their Carnival Bizarre and Supernatural Birth Machine albums. "Billy Anderson was perfect for the all-out sludge attack we wanted on Endtyme," explained Lee, "but this time the songs are a lot more layered and varied. Kit's got a good ear for melody." One new track, "Congregation Of Sorcerers", was previewed at the Terrorizer 100th Birthday Bash, but is apparently not representative of the CD's overall direction. "That's not really typical of the rest of the album," said Lee, "That's more a heavy, CELTIC FROST-influenced type of thing. That's one of two out-and-out heavy ones, the other being 'Halo Of Fire'. There are some ultra-doom parts but overall it's a lot more varied." On not maintaining the direction set out on Endtyme, Lee commented, "[That album] was mainly to get that [sound] out of our system — we had to prove to ourselves that we could be brutally heavy and still mean it. "When you've been around as long as we have," Lee concluded, "you see so many bands who when they've done six or seven albums they totally cop out and don't make the effort to push themselves any further. We didn't wanna become one of those bands who allow themselves to live on past glories. We've taken elements of the last album and progressed them a bit further. It's not like we've gone back to singing about Huggie Bear." source: blabbermouth.net
