evenprime writes "Ebay's Verified Rights Owner Program was designed to make sure the auction site doesn't let people sell things that violate copyright laws. Unfortunately, over-zealous ebay employees have been causing problems for independent musicians. George Ziemann has a detailed account of the difficulties he's faced when trying to sell copies of his CD on the auction site. Apparently ebay kept pulling his ads simply because he was selling a product recorded to CD-R! Ebay employees assume that all audio recordings on CD-R are the result of piracy, despite the fact that many indie bands burn their own music to CD-R to sell it. Wired has a nice summary of this story." source: slashdot.org Edit Matze: to put it on one sentence: you can sell pirated dvds and cdrs on ebay but not the music you wrote, performed and hold the copyright for. This sux big time!
Former YNGWIE MALMSTEEN and current RAGE drummer Mike Terrana has teamed up with French musicians Cyril Achard (electric & acoustic guitar) and Ivan Rougny (electric bass) in a three-piece instrumental rock fusion band called TABOO VOODOO FUSION BAND. The new TABOO VOODOO CD, entitled "Something's Cooking", will be released on Lion Records in November. It contains 10 "powerfully dynamic pieces displaying musical virtuosity & tasteful melody lines," according to an official press release. "[The material] contains musical [similarities] to the CDs that Mike Terrana has recorded with Tony Macalpine in the past. However, the compositions lean a little more to the progressive and jazz-fusion side of the musical spectrum. TABOO VOODOO FUSION BAND will be on the road in Germany starting in November, followed by tours of France, Italy, Spain and Holland after January 2003. source: blabbermouth.net

from www.re-vision.org: Good news, folks! re- Vision have completed their line-up and found a new singer in Anke Brügmann! We added the first pics of the new line- up (thanx to our photographer Ulf again for the great work, www.thuermann.com) and You can also take a look at Ankes personal page. More impressions of the first photo-session will be added soon! "We didn't care if our new singer would be male or female, just the voice was important, and Ankes vocals are really awesome!", that's how the bandmembers explain their decision. Anke is not only a replacement for Frank Wenner, with her impressive and - re-Vision-typical - 'free of any cliché'-voice she opens up new doors for the bands further development. Anke wasn't quite unknown to the band, she contributed some vocal-parts to the "Longevity"-album and she used to be in the same band as Daniel years ago. There were many applicants for the vocal-position, but by far Anke topped everyone, with her beautifully haunting voice she was responsible for a bunch of smiling re-Visionary musicians in the rehearsal-room (not to forget the goose-flesh at our backs:)). In November there will be a kind of pre-production, re-Vision will enter the Spacelab- Studios again to produce some demos for songs, which will find their way on the 4th album and prove that the band is still in a process of constant development / improvement and shall easily top the "Longevity"-album. Among others some songtitles are: Deconstructed, White Bled Soul, Remains, Descending Flame, Shapeless, Face Of Rust. Excerpts of the upcoming pre-production recordings can be downloaded in Novermber! Stay tuned, Cheerz!

Holland's THE GATHERING have set "Souvenirs" as the title of their new full-length album, due in February through the group's own Psychonaut Records. The effort, which is currently being mixed, will contain 10 songs and 50 minutes of music and will include the following titles, among others: 01. A Life All Mine (feat. ULVER's Trickster G) 02. Even The Spirits Are Afraid 03. Broken Glass 04. We Just Stopped Breathing 05. Golden Grounds 06. Jelena 07. You Learn About It 08. Souvenirs
The band has 10 or so basic tracks recorded for the new album (no projected release date known at this time). Plans are to have the basic album finished (bass, drums, one guitar) prior to the Dio tour. Then after the tour they will go back into the studio to work on the album some more. Coming off so much touring the guys will be very sharp... I have high expectations for this album... source: www.kingsx.net

CANDLEMASS will issue a 22-track double album early next year containing demos and studio outtakes spanning the group's entire career. Tentatively titled "The Black Heart Of Candlemass — Leif Edling Demos And Outtakes '83-99", the collection will also include material from mainman Leif Edling's pre-CANDLEMASS project NEMESIS and his short-lived ABSTRAKT ALGEBRA collaboration with ex-YNGWIE MALMSTEEN singer Mats Leven (who is once again playing with Leif in a new band called KRUX — debut album out soon). "People and fans have been on to me about these demos for about 15 years now," Edling stated when asked why he decided to make the recordings available to the public. "I see no reason why not put it out as a nice collection. It's a good time now, CANDLEMASS is going again and there is a great interest in the band at the moment. "The CANDLEMASS fans are very interested in everything I have done and recorded - in CANDLEMASS, ABSTRAKT ALGEBRA and NEMESIS," Edling continued. "They wanna hear stuff from the vaults and maybe discover some cool songs…..get perspective. In almost every interview I do they ask me about NEMESIS or ABSTRAKT ALGEBRA." With regards to what the fans can expect to hear on the upcoming collection, Edling said: "The live version of 'Lucifer' is killer! I also dig 'Warchild' from the first CANDLEMASS demo. There are some incredible ABSTRAKT ALGEBRA demos here, including the never-released studio track, 'Remulus and Romus', which I like very much! Most [of the] stuff sounds really good. I would never release something that is crap! Of course some of the songs were left out for a reason, but nevertheless, the overall quality of songs and sound is great. Even the NEMESIS stuff from 1983." "The Black Heart Of Candlemass — Leif Edling Demos And Outtakes '83-99" will be released in Europe through Sweden's GMR Music Group. At this time, there are no plans to issue the CD in North America. source : blabbermouth.net

Just a small update on Wizzard's Tapio Wilska and his part in Finntroll: according to Trolls' keyboardist Trollhorn, "he will sing in the Manowar-gig!" Just to remind you that Finntroll will support MANOWAR on their gig in Helsinki later this month, which looks like a good time to visit Finland... That's pretty much it. edit stephane : his words taken from Stratovarius's board : "Hi y'all... Well, yes it is true, we have been rehearsing with Finntroll, and we have the first gig in a month, supporting Manowar in Helsinki. At the moment no one knows if this is going to be a permanent solution, I feel pretty overwhelmed donning Katla's fur coat...This has been one of my favourite bands since their debut, and doing the songs is great fun for me. I, as probably every other fan of the band wishes that Katla will get better and will return to the band in the future. But I have to say that although Sethian remains my no. 1 priority, I'll give 100% to this thing when needed. Hey kiddos, it's only a question of time management... As for swedish, I speak it adequately, I studied it further at the uni as my second language." Thanks to Alexander D for pointing us this :) edit Max The only questions that I have after this are: what does Stratovarius board have to do with Finntroll and why this thing is not on Finntroll's website. Well, I guess we can only wait and see... ;)

Dear Friends, We are happy to announce the recording of our next CD for Magna Carta Records! Tempest will be secluded at Soundtek Studios in Campbell with our good friend and favourite producer Robert Berry for most of the month of December. We have thinned our touring schedule a bit for the rest of the year in order to work on the new material. Some of the songs you've already heard on our summer tours, but we have lots more in the works. The new album will be a great mix of traditional and original material...and alot of fun to record! Stay tuned! source: www.tempestmusic.com

The reunited classic line-up of CANDLEMASS — vocalist Messiah Marcolin, bassist/founder Leif Edling, guitarist Mats "Mappe" Björkman, lead guitarist Lars Johansson and drummer Jan Lindh — will issue their first-ever DVD, titled Candlemass Documents Of Doom, on November 25th through Escapi UK. Candlemass Documents Of Doom (view artwork here) is essentially the live concert recorded in 1990 at Fryhuset in Stockholm, Sweden and released later as a live album. In addition, the DVD includes an enormous collection of footage charting the history of this extraordinary group from their early beginnings to the surprise UK return at London's Mean Fiddler in July 2002. Live clips, interviews, candid shots plus a separate commentary track recorded recently by the band make this a must-have item for all fans of heavy metal, old and new. Candlemass Documents of Doom is expected to retail at £17.99 on DVD and £12.99 or the VHS. More specific details of the DVD content (likely to be a 2-disc set) will follow shortly. source: blabbermouth.net

AGATHODAIMON As a result of the last-minute venue change for the Kreator/Destruction-Gig in Bristol, the previously announced exclusive participation of AGATHODAIMON at this Halloween-Gig had to be cancelled as the other location doesn't want five bands on the bill. Therefore also their appearance at Peterborough - "Fiddler's Elbow" had to be cancelled as the travel to the UK just for one gig became much too expensive; as also the gig in London was cancelled earlier. Nevertheless, the band will try to arrange some new UK-dates in the near future. ANTHRAX After the band played some shows together with Motörhead, there's finally a release scheduled for their upcoming album "We've Come For You All". The problems with their US-label seem to be solved, so there shouldn't be any further delay concerning the release date, which is set to the 3rd of March 2003. Watch out for this album, as it seems to be a killer! We already had the chance to listen to some advance tracks, and they really sound very promising! GRAVEDIGGER just extended their contract with Nuclear Blast for some additional albums. Currently the band is in studio to record their new album, which should be released the 26th of May 2003. The band also will publish a book featuring their biography, before Christmas. MANOWAR The 1st of November will see the start of the first Manowar-gig that is part of their "Warriors Of The World" Tour 2002/2003 and will take place in Zlin (CZ). Check the tourdates on our website or have a look at the bottom of this mail ;) The band will visit 13 countries and play 36 shows. Just in time, they'll also release a new single, which contains two NEW tracks called "Dawn Of The Battle" and "I Believe" as well as the opening track "Call To Arms" of their current CD. It will also feature some PC enhanced part with lots of bonus material, such as their gig at the Ringfest (Cologne) and a preview of their upcoming DVD. We're also proud to announce that Manowar extended their contract with Nuclear Blast! Good things always CARRY ON! PRIMAL FEAR After their highly successful european tour, PRIMAL FEAR will now embark on a South American tour, where they'll also play at Sao Paulo at "Via Funchial", a club that has a capacity of 5000 visitors. Besides, their spectacular show at their "home base" LKA in Stuttgart was filmed and this material will be used for the upcoming DVD "The History Of Fear". PRIMAL FEAR are already confirmed for next year's Wacken Open Air, Summer Breeze and Blind Guardian Open Air 2003! STRATOVARIUS The 27th January will see the release of the new album "Elements Part I". In advance, their new single "Eagleheart" will serve as a good pre-taste for all curious fans out there. A tour is also already planned, as STRATOVARIUS will travel through Europe together with THUNDERSTONE and Symphony X, beginning with the 19th of March 2003. The band is also confirmed for Wacken 2003, more festivals to come. source: Nuclear Blast Newsletter

LED ZEPPELIN are set to re-group after 22 years for a stadium tour of America, according to Britain's Sun newspaper. The three surviving members — singer Robert Plant, guitarist Jimmy Page and bassist John Paul Jones — plan to hit the road next summer and hope to pocket £6.4million (approximately $10 million) for the shows. edit stephane : you read well, "hope to pocket £6.4million (approximately $10 million) " =>turn on cash in tune up sell out...? According to the paper, Robert, Jimmy, and John Paul met two weeks ago at the offices of their management firm Trinifold to discuss a possible tour, which would include Jason Bonham, son of former drummer John Bonham. A band insider told the paper: "If the right offer comes up they will do it." Trinifold added: "Jimmy is itching to do something, but there is nothing firm yet."

Amorphis have recorded the song "Kuusamo" for the soundtrack of the finnish movie "Menolippu mombasaan".
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Former Metallica bassist, JASON NEWSTED, has officially confirmed his role as the new addition to original VOIVOD members, SNAKE (aka Denis Belanger) - vocals, PIGGY (aka Denis D'Amour) - guitar, and AWAY (aka Michel Langevin) - drums. JASONIC (Newsted's new given moniker) will also serve as producer for the metal legends' upcoming release on the Chophouse Records label (in association with Surfdog Records). Long-time friends and pioneers of metal music, the four musicians first began working together at Newsted's Chophouse studio in 1995, intent on keeping the music alive between busy touring schedules. However, with his recent departure from Metallica in January 2001, Newsted was free to work on a myriad of projects, which could now be more than just hobbies. With a working title of "THE MULTIVERSE," VOIVOD's 13th release will feature 13 brand new tracks all to be recorded and mixed at The Plant in Sausalito, CA from October 13 through November 13, 2002. VOIVOD first began recording back in 1983, creating an innovative and very identifiable musical style which can best be described as ferocious, progressive metal. And now, on the eve of their 20th anniversary, with the return of Snake (the voice of VOIVOD), they are set to release an album for which anticipation has been building in underground metal circles for years. Newsted - "Those who know Voivod respect Voivod around the globe! This is the new beginning for all of us. We're the same age, raised on the same music. We've been through a lot of similar situations. All 4 of us are having such a good time writing our metal music together, in one room - bashing it out, it's real again!!" Guess what, loyal fans of Finntroll... Yup, that's right, you guessed it. The whole damn European Tour has been cancelled. Not only Finntroll had to cancel it but every other band too had to back away. The reason for this major mess was the most stupidiest and unthinkable reason. Both of their tour busses broke down and they cannot get new ones in time. I hope Somnium will tell you more about this matter as soon as he can and explain the whole thing to you and as well as me. Only think I can really say is that they are becoming the most unluckiest band in the world. First Katla and now this. source: www.finntroll.net

From the Kingdom of Steel: MANOWAR - "The Dawn Of Battle" To announce the start of the WARRIORS OF THE WORLD TOUR 2002/2003 - the undisputed Kings Of Metal will release the third single from the album "Warriors Of The World". The single not only features the album's powerful opening song "Call To Arms", already branded a metal classic. But as a special bonus two brand new MANOWAR tracks, entitled "The Dawn Of Battle" and "I Believe". The band's first new songs recorded outside their normal album production cycle and will no doubt be in the tradition of the many great anthems MANOWAR are known for. The single will hit the streets in three different configuration: First - a standard CD-single with additional enhanced material such as excerpts from a documentary shot during the most legendary performance at the Ringfest 2002 in Cologne on August 17, 2002. Secondly - as a Premium CD-single with an additional DVD side, featuring the full documentary of the "Ringfest 2002" and a teaser about the upcoming DVD release "Fire & Blood" in highest quality. Thridly - as a picture vinyl featuring the brandnew tourartwork - again painted by the famous Ken Kelly. All digital formats are equipped with the patented "CD connector/DVD connector" where the fans can easily access a special secured fansite. Here they can learn more about the upcoming tour and it's groundbreaking and always earth shattering production. The single will be released on November 11, 2002 and will crack open the earth for the upcoming world tour which will take the band to more than 13 countries with over 36 shows from November to December 2002. This is the call to arms to all of you Warriors of the World!

Former HELLOWEEN frontman Michael Kiske has reportedly set SUPARED as the name of his new "solo" project, which is tentatively due to issue its as-yet-untitled debut in January through Noise/Sanctuary Records. As previously reported, Kiske's forthcoming CD will contain "some cool heavy metal elements but also some poppy songs, but as always it is a 100% Michael Kiske product," according to the singer's official web site. KSCR Web Broadcast Shut Down! Upon recommendation by the Vice-President of Student-Affairs, KSCR has ceased webcasting for an indefnite amount of time. We regret the inconvenience - but you can always listen to 1560AM in the USC area. There are two different ways we may resume webcasting: 1.) A bill for the CARP ruling to "stay" for six months is passed by the congress. 2.) We obtain licenses from numerous licensing agencies, and comply with all reporting requirements. Either way, be assured that we are working tirelessly to get KSCR back to the webcasting community - and keep your eye out for future events that KSCR will be hosting! Summer has gone and so have we. Meaning that Eläkeläiset won't be touring anywhere before spring 2003. We'll be spending this fall and winter making a new album (or two...), so stay tuned folks. See you!
On 4th November, the Deine Lakaien club hit "Where You Are", taken from the current album "White Lies", will be released - with all mixes, a wonderful live acoustic version and plenty of cool remixes, one from VNV-Nation, for example.
After quite much touring for promoting World of Glass, the band has decided to spend the next few months focusing on new song material only. With a couple of exceptions, Tristania will take a break from touring and focus on the songs for the next album for the rest of 2002. source : tristania's official site
Right now we're working on the pre-production for the next Vintersorg album, which is going to have the format of a concept/theme album, a story running through the albums entirety, and with a musical flow that includes small compositions between the "real" songs. The music takes off from "Visions from the spiral generator" and twists and turns through a vast genre spectra(as always with Vintersorg). From mellow prog to extreme metal, to ambient and folky vibes, spiced with a lot of effective contrasts, changing directories but united under a solid musical kingdom. The album title? It's set to "The focusing blur" and deals with Man's hunger for science and faith.........after understanding the most secretive processes we always come to a new crossroad, with myriads of paths to follow, so our focus is more like a blur. source : vintersorg official site

from www.suicidaltendencies.com: Today we'll be in the studio working on new ST songs. [...] Since we started jamming with the Bruner brothers the excitement of playing music again has really taken hold of us. We went into the studio before the european tour and were really happy with the results. We're gonna record some new songs before I go leave town on a business trip. When I get back we'll get back locked into some more tracks and hopefully we can get a early 2003 new CD release.
